Make sense of it

Act it out

Act it out gives each step of a process a simple action pupils do at their desks as they say it, so the sequence is held in movement as well as words.

The real slide Chalk makes, in the Classroom look. Every word is written for your lesson when you use it.

How to run it

  1. Show each action and say its step together.
  2. Pupils run through the whole sequence with the actions.
  3. Remove the words and ask pupils to say the steps from the actions.

Why it works

Acting an idea out gives pupils another way to hold it in mind, which helps young pupils and those learning the words most.
